MARIST Father Tony Kennedy revealed one of his hidden talents when he turned celebrity chef on November 29.
The parish priest of St Johns Wood-The Gap, in Brisbane’s west, gave a cooking demonstration of one of his favourite recipes – ginger chicken chilli stir fry – and some of his parishioners had the chance to do a taste test.
The cooking demonstration coincided with the launch of a parish cookbook.
Parishioners were invited to try some of the recipes at the traditional meal after the annual end of year Mass for those involved in parish ministries and activities.
For the book, parishioners had been invited to share their favourite recipes, and more than 200 entries were included.
Fr Kennedy said the parish was fortunate to have chefs from various Brisbane restaurants living in the community and they were willing to share some of their secrets. Several of the city’s leading restaurants also contributed.
The St Johns Wood-The Gap Parish Cookbook is selling for $10, and is available from the parish office at 41 Chaprowe Rd, The Gap, Qld 4061 or by phoning (07) 3300 6099.
