ONE of Queensland’s top sporting couples, Wallaby Ben Tune and his wife, 2000 waterpolo Olympic gold medallist, Gail, visited Roma St railway station in Brisbane on December 2 to support the St Vincent de Paul Society’s Christmas Toy Appeal.
Helping the couple was 12 month-old son Emmitt.
The couple said they were pleased to support a cause that helped put a smile on the faces of children in need over the festive season.
‘Now that we have Emmitt it has made us realise how sad it would be not to have gifts for him to open on Christmas morning,’ Ben said.
‘We remember how exciting it was when we were kids and I suppose it is something many of us take for granted.
‘But for many Queensland families Christmas can be a real struggle.’
He said donating to St Vincent de Paul’s Christmas appeal ensured children around the state would have something under their Christmas tree this year.
Unwrapped gifts can be put in the boxes provided at Queensland railway stations or St Vincent de Paul shops.
