SUMMER rains kept the Australian and New Zealand cricketers off the Gabba pitch in Brisbane on December 10 but could not deter the dedicated carol singers of Camp Hill.
They braved the conditions to sing of the joy of Christmas, on the same day that the Chappell-Hadlee one-day cricket series decider was washed out.
For the past three Friday nights, the Camp Hill parishioners have been singing carols under the Nativity scene outside St Thomas’ Church.
It was the parish choir’s turn to lead the singing on the rainy night of December 10, and several other parishioners turned up to join in.
The youth of the parish led the singing on the first night and the playgroup and music teachers from St Thomas’ Primary School were to have led the carolling on Friday night.
The series was called ‘The Night St Thomas’ Sings’.
