CARITAS Australia is encouraging Australians to cook up a pancake feast before the traditional Lenten fast.
Madeline (pictured), 13, will join people around Australia who will be involved in a pancake event to help promote Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion appeal this Lent.
Schools, parishes and businesses from the top end of Australia to Tasmania will be cooking pancakes to sell and making sure the proceeds are the first coins to fall into the Project Compassion box.
Pancakes are easy to make and are traditionally eaten on Shrove Tuesday to mark the beginning of Lent.
Project Compassion appeal kits are being distributed through parishes and Catholic schools.
Shrove Tuesday is on February 24.
