AN overwhelming sense of pride and achievement flowed through young people at Darra-Jindalee Parish as they celebrated the final youth Mass for the year on November 26.
Darra-Jindalee parish priest Fr Dan Carroll led the Mass at Twelve Apostles Church, Jindalee, which was also a farewell for parish youth co-ordinator Matthew Fradd.
Parish youth leader Christian Nobleza said there was a sense that the youth group had achieved what they set out to do at the beginning of the year.
Events included the opening youth Mass with Auxiliary Bishop Brian Finnigan of Brisbane, hosting the Deanery Youth Lenten Program and an inaugural deanery youth Mass, the launch of Life Teen, an international Catholic ministry that encourages vibrant eucharistic celebrations and opportunities for teenagers to grow in their faith, and social events such as movie nights and barbecues.
Christian said the main focus of the year for the youth group had been the weekly Life Teen activities.
He said Darra-Jindalee was going through some changes to youth ministry as it farewelled Matthew.
Matthew, who took up the co-ordinator’s role in February, is leaving for Houston, Texas where he has taken up a similar position in youth ministry.
A highlight of the last Mass for the year was a review of 2005 by youth leaders Naomi Seow and Matt Kei, and an inspirational story by one of the young people of Life Teen, Bernadette Tomlin.
