Creative Easter

MARIST Young Adult Ministry Brisbane (MYAMB) is inviting young adults and Year 12 students to spend ‘Easter in Brisbane’, a creative and thought-provoking way of experiencing and celebrating the Resurrection.

The two-day creative encounter will take place at Marist College, Ashgrove’s Cyprian Pavilion on Good Friday and Easter Saturday.

MYAMB’s ethos and origins are in young adults with a Marist background who want to explore and act on issues of justice, spirituality and community with other young people.

One of the organisers, Joel Hodge, said Easter in Brisbane would give participants a chance to meet others of like mind and connect with their stories and help build a creative Church to transform the ‘ordinary into the spectacular’.

He said young people could look forward to two days of creative workshops, liturgies, storytelling and a place to reflect.

MYAMB is expecting about 60 people but could cope with about 100.

‘We will be holding a liturgy on Good Friday and a vigil liturgy on Holy Saturday similar to those held in parishes across Brisbane, but ours will be more creative with a lot more emphasis and meaning for young people.

He said Marist youth ministries had conducted similar encounters in Sydney and Melbourne but this was the first to be held in Brisbane.

Cost for the two-day encounter is $55 which pays for food and the use of the Cyprian Pavilion.

Workshops begin at 9.30am and finish at 8.30pm.
