HAVING read many letters recently about sexual abuse I would like to share my story with you.
From 1946 to 1957 I was educated by a French order of nuns in England.
They were strict but never cruel.
My first job was in the same town as the convent so I still had a lot of contact with them for the next four years.
In 1961, I joined the Royal Air Force and for four years flew to many different parts of the world as a stewardess.
In 1971, my husband and I, with our daughter, came to live in Australia. I have lived in Sydney, Bundaberg, Maroochydore and now Brisbane.
So, during my life, I have met many priests and nuns from all over the world. I have never ever come across one who was cruel or immoral.
I do feel for all those who have been sexually abused but please let’s not forget the thousands of priests and nuns out there who are devoted to their faith and practise it.
