AN organiser of a recent Right to Life (RTL) march from Greenslopes to Parliament House has expressed “profound sadness” at the event’s disruption by about 30 pro-abortion protesters.
Organiser of Walk for Little Feet and Queensland co-ordinator for RTL Australia Graham Preston said it was the first time in the event’s 18-year history that such a protest had occurred.
“The protesters, about 20 young women and 10 young men, were waiting when our group arrived at Parliament House,” Mr Preston said.
“I felt profound sadness to see a group of what looked like university-aged students so passionate about the right to kill unborn children.”
Mr Preston, a father of seven children from ages four to 21, who co-ordinates RTL Australia in Queensland with his wife Liz, said the Walk for Little Feet on May 10 had started at a medical clinic where abortions were preformed, proceeded to Parliament House and then to another clinic where abortions were performed.
He said it was “somewhat surprising” to see the protesters in Alice Street near Parliament House when the march arrived.
“However, a similar sized group disrupted another anti-abortion rally earlier this year,” he said.
“These people, and society in general, need to face up to double standards regarding abortion.
“On the one hand there is enormous public outrage expressed about the terrible murder of one child.
“But on the other hand, specialised centres for the destruction of young human lives – abortion clinics – operate openly in our cities and suburbs.”
