THE lead-up to the Easter holiday break was a busy one at Southern Cross Catholic College, Scarborough.
Across the college’s four campuses students from Prep through to Year 12 spent the last week of the school term praying, reflecting and re-enacting the journey of Jesus’ last week before his crucifixion and resurrection.
At the MacKillop Campus at Kippa-Ring, the week began with Year 2 students leading the school through Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem.
At the Frawley Campus, Scarborough, Prep students joined with Year 3 to share their re-enactment of the same journey.
The rest of Jesus’ last week was portrayed in re-enactments of the washing of the feet, the Last Supper, praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus meeting Pilate, Peter’s betrayal of Jesus, the way of the Cross and the crucifixion by various classes at various campuses.
On the last day of term, along with commemorating Jesus’ final moments, students also made traditional Easter bonnets and paraded them for friends and family.
