PREFECT of the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith Cardinal William Levada will celebrate the 10am Mass at St Stephen’s Cathedral in Brisbane on Sunday, April 27.
Cardinal Levada will be visiting the archdiocese to bless and open the new Holy Spirit Seminary at Banyo on April 26.
The new apostolic nuncio to Australia Archbishop Giuseppe Lazarotto will also be present at the cathedral Mass.
Archbishop John Bathersby of Brisbane will welcome both the cardinal and the archbishop to the archdiocese during the Mass.
Cardinal Levada will preach the homily.
“This is a very important occasion in the life of the archdiocese and cathedral as we welcome very significant figures in the life of the Church,” Cathedral dean, Fr Ken Howell said.
“The cardinal will be received at the door of the cathedral at 9.50am and proceed to the Blessed Sacrament chapel where he will pray before vesting for Mass.
“We are asking that as many as possible be seated by 9.45am to await the cardinal’s arrival.”
