STAND up and take a bow Brisbane Central Deanery’s youth ministry team.
Their mission is to “work for the kingdom of God through co-operation within the parish”.
Meeting on August 22, the group outlined its vision: “To nurture and connect as well as promote personal and spiritual growth among young people, encourage young people to express their sense of belonging to the Church through participating in the life and mission of the Church, and empower young people to become true disciples of Jesus and go out to others with a sense of mission, working for justice, peace and human dignity.”
“In addition to maintaining and strengthening the popular Young Adults’ Mass (first Sunday of the month at 7.30pm), the team is planning two young adults’ events for the end of the year,” the deanery’s youth ministry co-ordinator Melissa Baker said.
“They are looking forward to a young adults’ question-and-answer session which they are planning for November on the theme of Advent.
“This will be a great opportunity for people to understand what Advent is all about and prepare for Christmas.”
Some members of the team will head to Emmanuel community’s Ignite conference in September, and a Christmas celebration is planned for December.
