With the push often on “doing” rather than “being”, Youth and Children’s Ministry team member, Paul Catchlove, saw the need to gather those who minister to young people to simply share a meal and each other’s company.
The result was Y-Dinner, an initiative that began on July 13 at an inner city Brisbane restaurant where Paul was joined by six others from various backgrounds.
“The dinner drew together people representing movements, deaneries, parishes and schools. There was a real sense of sharing wisdom, experience and learnings,” he said.
Y-Dinner was enjoyed by Paul Blom from St Columban’s College in Caboolture who said that it was “great to catch up”.
“I hope the next one will be even bigger and better,” he said.
Bigger and better things are planned for the next Y-Dinner gathering on August 10 at the Mecca Bah in Fortitude Valley’s Emporium.
Y-Dinner will be offered monthly on the second Friday of each month and is open to all those with an interest in youth ministry with the venue set by those who attend.
“We all have to eat so why not come together in solidarity?” Paul added.
