YOUTH at St Mary’s, Coomera, haven’t stopped “doing good” during the past month.
“Very busy during October”, youth group leader Maggie Moodley said they’ve been focused on raising money for their parish’s needs and the needs of others.
“We did a bake sale to raise funds for our sister parish in Soibada (in East Timor),” she said of the October 11 event.
“The youth got together at the St Mary’s kitchen … and did some baking.”
The delicacies were sold to weekend Mass-goers, and the $1060 raised “will be sent off to Soibada in time for Christmas”.
Just days later, on October 17, a sausage sizzle at a nearby hardware warehouse raised $1319 to be put towards musical instruments.
“It was a fun-filled day and we saw amazing team work,” Maggie said.
“The youth had a great time, and we recently purchase a drum kit for St Mary’s.
“We plan to get the youth trained to use this at our youth Masses and get-togethers.”
With their sights now set on a November 20 Christmas concert, young people of the area are busy rehearsing and enlisting others to join them.
