THE youth of Brisbane archdiocese have been talking about Synod 2003.
In the past few months, youth deanery meetings have been held around the archdiocese and have involved hundreds of young people discussing the four key synod issues.
These are:
- To understand and value the spiritual treasure the Church has to offer in today’s world.
- Respond to the spiritual hunger of people today, including emerging believers, Catholic unconnected to a Church community and those who have no religious faith.
- Respond to, engage with and animate the spiritual life of young people.
- Nurture the mission, ministry and vocation of the priests and people of the archdiocese.
Michael Hart, Natalie L’Huillier and Malcolm Hart from Parish Youth Ministry Services have been overseeing the deanery youth consultations during the past few months.
Young people are being invited to a youth forum to be held at the O’Shea Centre, Wilston on April 27-28.
Candidates will be nominated from the five tributaries in the young people’s stream for Synod 2003.
These include schools, parishes, tertiary institutions, ethnic communities, and youth movements such as Rosies, Antioch, Young Christian Workers and Edmund Rice Youth.
