BRISBANE-based youth retreat team Project Hatch has a new energy for 2014, partnering with the St Vincent de Paul Society, Vocations Brisbane and welcoming in five new team members.
Project Hatch Director Dave Jorna said he was keen to be in their new office sharing with Vocations Brisbane, and looked forwarding to connecting with “more likeminded people”.
One of those connections is with former Brisbane archdiocese Catholic Youth Ministry team member Anita Hendrie, who now joins Project Hatch as part-time retreat facilitator.
Miss Hendrie, who has been a teacher in Australia and London and also worked as a campus minister, said it was exciting to be going back into the classrooms and working directly with young people.
“As much as I loved my previous role and was fantastic to be involved in fantastic projects, it was a lot more working with people who were working with young people,” Miss Hendrie said.
“Something I always did miss was having ongoing day to day contact with young people.
“The way I live my life and what I do, is to be a positive influence on young people, being Jesus for them.”
Miss Hendrie said her passion for social justice as well empowering young people to excel in leadership and personal development suited Project Hatch’s mission.
Mr Jorna said Project Hatch was always looking at growing and developing as a ministry, and looked forward to his collaboration with Miss Hendrie.
Also joining the present team of five this year are former NET Ministries team members Jessie Donnelly and Dom Dougherty and Brisbane parishioners Tash Skitmore and Mary Stansfield.
Project Hatch is a national youth retreat team that facilitates programs of various topics and themes throughout schools in Australia.
They help students to see the sacredness in their daily lives and teach them to be Christ to others.
