EXCITEMENT is building within Emmanuel Youth Outreach as it prepares for the Ignite 03 youth conference at Iona College, Lindum from October 1-4.
The conference’s theme ‘Metamorphosis’, reflects the total change God can make in a young person’s life.
Youth and young adults from across Brisbane will join others from throughout Australia and New Zealand who are making the trip to Brisbane for the conference.
One of the conference organisers, Luke Plant, said Ignite 03 was a unique opportunity for young people to be enthused and encouraged in their faith, and empowered to make a difference in the world.
‘They will be transformed,’ he said.
‘We would love for more people to join us for this exciting event.
‘It’s going to be a lot of fun.’
Conference streams will include ‘The Beat’, where young people can learn about creative arts including music, drama, multimedia and song writing; ‘The Map’, where they will learn leadership skills; and ‘The Vibe’, where they can explore prayer and other issues in life.
‘A Bug’s Life’, for 8-12 year-olds will run in the mornings.
The four-day event will include guest speakers, morning and evening rallies with the Emmanuel Worship Band, workshop sessions and small focus groups. Brisbane bands Tonjip and Audiology will supply the music.
The night rallies, beginning at 7.30pm, will be free and open to the public.
Archbishop John Bathersby will celebrate the final Mass on October 4 at 7pm.
