COOMERA parish has formed a new youth group which operates out of St Mary’s in Upper Coomera, south of Brisbane.

The initiative was spurred on by World Youth Day momentum.

“World Youth Day celebrations has inspired the youth of St Mary’s parish,” youth group leader Maggie Moodley said.

“We hosted about 165 pilgrims and it was a memorable and enjoyable experience.”

With a monthly youth Mass planned from now on – the next at 9am on December 21 – Mrs Moodley said many had volunteered to assist.

“We have a few talented, enthusiastic young people who are keen to be involved in the Church and in forming a youth band,” she said.

“We have been involved in a few social get-togethers and are practising for our youth Mass.”

Asking for prayers for the future of the ministry, the group is also organising a family camp in late January.

“I feel that building relationships and connecting with each other is important in strengthening our youth group,” Mrs Moodley said.
