NET(National Evangelisation Teams) Ministries will hold an information night for volunteers on October 29 at Brigidine College, Indooroopilly.

The meeting at the college’s Learning Centre begins at 7pm and runs for two hours.

NET Ministries supervisor Clare Dooley said there would be an opportunity to talk to past volunteers on the night.

‘They will be able to meet a national team and hear from them about their Ôon the road’ experiences,’ she said.

Supper will be provided.

The ministry is looking for volunteers between the ages of 18 and 30 to devote one year living and working in a committed team environment.

After five weeks of training they will join either national ministry teams comprising 12 volunteers or local ministry teams of five volunteers and ‘hit the road’.

Ms Dooley said the teams work as modern-day evangelists stirring up, strengthening and supporting the faith of young Catholics.

‘The teams become the heart of a much larger community always inviting young people to come and encounter Christ and experience the life he has to offer,’ she said.

Training includes instruction in Christian personal relationships, the power of the Holy Spirit, Catholic disciplines, Christian character, the content of evangelisation and basic evangelisation skills.

All volunteers are housed together during training.

Ms Dooley said the community lifestyle offered countless opportunities for practising the lessons learned at training sessions.

‘Team members learn to speak well of one another and to love one another as Christ has loved us, Ms Dooley said.

‘They continually say how much they have grown just by living with others who are committed to living out the Gospel message.’
