A RANGE of ages and experiences make up the Kedron Parish Youth Ministry Team (KPYMT).
Formed in January this year, the group last Sunday (August 23) organised its first youth-led Mass in Little Flower Church, Kedron.
Focusing on supporting young people, offering spiritual and social events as well as outreach opportunities, the volunteers are also looking forward to a part-time youth ministry co-ordinator joining their ranks.
“Team activities have included liaising with the three local schools, researching the profile of young people in the parish, conducting a survey and participation in training for youth ministry,” chairwoman Ann Johnston said.
Helping the KPYMT is a fundraising committee.
“We have had a trivia night, many sausage sizzles and recently applied for and received a grant from the North West Deanery to assist with the employment of the youth ministry co-ordinator,” Ms Johnston said.
She said the KPYMT organised and led the Good Friday liturgies.
Last Sunday night’s Mass was assisted by five vocalists and various young people participating instrumentally.
A sausage sizzle and pizza afterwards was offered for all.
The KPYMT are discussing the possibility of monthly youth Masses.
