On August 19, my family and I went to St Stephen’s Cathedral for Mass and a tour as part of the Family Sacramental Program in our parish, Our Lady of Lourdes, Sunnybank and on the day we were lucky enough to see the World Youth Day Cross and Icon.
It was awesome to see them as they have travelled all around the world and will be placed in Sydney for WYD in 2008.
The WYD Cross has been seen and touched by thousands of people and it was great to see it.
My sisters, Melanie and Rebecca, and I were lucky enough to hold a flag and have a photo taken in front of the Cross and Icon.
Hopefully, in the future, I will be able to attend WYD and see the Cross again.

I liked the stained glass windows of St Stephen’s Cathedral the best.
They were French, Irish, English and Australian. They were very big and colourful and there were lots of them.
I also liked the statue of Blessed Mary Mackillop. She was made out of a tree and is in the little chapel next to the cathedral.
I celebrated First Holy Communion in September with 170 other students in the parish as well as the Sacraments of Confirmation in June and Penance (or Reconciliation) before Easter and the visit to the cathedral was a great part of the year.
