HOLY Spirit Youth Group in Pine Rivers Parish attracted about 80 young people to its annual “Dare for More” camp, which is becoming a must for young people wanting to share their faith.

The camp, the group’s third, was held at Camp Warrawee, Joyner, north of Brisbane, from February 3-5.

The camp, for high school students aged 12-17, as well as young adults aged 18-28, focused on the theme “Dare for More”, based on John 10:10: “I have come in order that you might have life – life in all its fullness”.

Camp co-ordinator Katie Anderton said the theme aimed to challenge youth to want more than the world offered and to dare for more in their relationships with family, friends and God.

She said it was a theme relevant to today’s youth, helping them to realise their potential, to expect more than what the world had to offer and to dare for more in life.

Katie said the camp was also a great opportunity for young people to meet others from all over Brisbane, make new friends and develop your faith.

“Throughout the weekend we looked at people who dared for more, participated in various activities such as giant swing, flying fox, pool activities, listened to witnesses from youth, talks, music and concluded with Mass,” Katie said.

Jason Brown, 14, said he got a lot out of the testimonies and attending reconciliation, while 15-year-old Brendan Tiley said every year he was bored until the youth camp came around.
