YOUNG people from North Country Deanery travelled to the Margate Conference Centre on the Redcliffe Peninsula last weekend to deepen their faith and to develop a relationship with God.
The participants were from Gympie, Maryborough and Hervey Bay.
The weekend was filled with activities that challenged the young people as well as encouraged and nurtured their spirituality.
The highlight for many was the Firestarter concert by Emmanuel Youth Outreach on the Saturday night.
The room was lit up and the music was loud and awesome.
Sunday Mass was celebrated by Maryborough parish priest Fr Paul Kelly, who joined in for part of the weekend, and all who attended agreed, “Jesus rocks”.
The theme of the camp was “Revolving Doors”.
This was to highlight that for many people their faith journey was like hopping on and off the rotating doors.
Everyone begins their faith journey at different times and sometimes they might exit and enter many times throughout their life journey.
The young people were left with a piece of scripture to encourage and inspire their own faith and its ability to be seen.
“Let your light shine before others so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
