YOUTH in Hervey Bay parish, north of Brisbane, returned from a February training day at Australian Catholic University, Banyo, “all fired up”.
Pastoral worker and counsellor Jenny Bill said the parish sent 24 participants, and the group was keen “to have fun with other youth and children”.
“It is truly wonderful to see that our youth are still so energised and excited post-World Youth Day,” she said.
“The day was a huge success with all of us agreeing that the workshops we attended were very relevant, interesting and informative.
“Our youth attended a leadership workshop in addition to another two that were of particular interest to them.
“The adults also attended a total of three workshops that were of particular interest.”
Auxiliary Bishop Brian Finnigan of Brisbane phoned the group to “congratulate” them on the number of attendees.
They are organising activities for children aged 4 to 7 years in their parish.
The training day for ministry to young adults, youth and children was organised by Brisbane archdiocese’s Youth and Children’s Ministry Team.
