CELEBRATING their final youth Mass for the year on December 9, young people at St Catherine’s, Wishart, opened with a memorable dramatisation.
The words “prepare”, “repent” and “change” were the focus for the pre-Mass dramatisation of the story of John the Baptist.
A group of adults and children were involved using a chorus-style adaptation, candles, large footprints and a reflection time as they moved through the church while “Prepare Ye” was sung.
During the Mass, “large lengths of liturgical cloths” were enthusiastically carried by a group of children, creating an inspiring focus for the Gospel procession.
Youth group member Emma Harris presented “a moving and honest testimony” reflecting her aspirations.
A more senior parishioner said, “It was a great night … the music, Emma’s reflection, Tony’s (John the Baptist) voice, the sign, the swathes of cloth, all made for a wonderful service … I must come to more youth Masses.”
In 2007, St Catherine’s has seen overwhelming growth in the number of youth taking part in various ministries including the popular family outreach of Friday Night ALIVE!
