ABOUT 80 high school students enjoyed a heady mix of sun, surf, beach and prayer during a four-day Zero Gravity camp at Alexandra Headland Conference Centre on the Sunshine Coast from January 10-14.
Run by Emmanuel Youth Outreach (EYO) in collaboration with St Columban’s College, Caboolture, and All Saints’ Parish, Albany Creek, the camp exceeded the expectations of EYO co-ordinator Luke Plant.
“The purpose of the camp was to give young people a chance to connect with God in a fun environment and start the year off well,” Luke said.
“It was very successful in numbers and most of the teenagers said they experienced God in some way that turned their life around,” Luke said.
“For those who already go to church it was a personal experience of God and, for those who don’t come from church-going families, it helped them to know what church is all about.”
Night sessions provided teenagers with a prayer experience, an opportunity to attend reconciliation and become a follower of Christ.
The camp drew good numbers from St Columban’s and All Saints’ Parish, as well as Voltage, an EYO ministry for teenagers in Years 8-12 in Brisbane.
Four girls from Rockhampton diocese also attended.
