MANY Catholic youth are expected to flock to the Light to the Nations Easter celebration in the grounds of the Redemptorist monastery at Galgong in southern NSW.
Organiser Daniel Foster said hundreds of Catholic young people were expected to converge at the monastery to build a tent city for the event from April 5-8.
“Light to the Nations 2007 will include dance, drama, music, inspired talks, personal testimonies, climaxing with a celebration of the Church’s Easter liturgies,” Daniel said.
“It will all be held under a huge marquee.
“Pilgrims will also share the challenges of a journey to create a tent city in the monastery grounds.”
The event will begin with registration and the setting up of tents on April 5 at 3pm and end at 12.30pm on Easter Sunday.
It is being organised by the Disciples of Jesus Covenant Community.
The community is recognised universally by the Pope through its membership of the Catholic Fraternity of Covenant Communities, Daniel said.
The Disciples of Jesus Covenant Community have branches across Australia, including Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Cairns, Adelaide, Darwin and Perth. There are also branches in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Daniel said the event would provide an excellent opportunity for participants to meet other young Catholics from all over Australia.
“One special event will be a walk together up Rosary Hill at the monastery to intercede for the youth of Australia, especially for the success of World Youth Day 2008,” he said.
“Light to the Nations 2007 is a great opportunity to be renewed in faith, prayer and excitement for the Christian message.
“Pilgrims speak of leaving the celebration with a powerful impression of God’s presence, healing love and peace.”
