WESTERN Hills Antioch is gearing up for a busy time over the Christmas holidays.
It is preparing for its next outreach weekend from January 25-27.
Antioch members are busy working on schedules and activities, and advertising the weekend.
The youth will also be involved in an outdoor education day on January 11 at Crossdale, near Wivenhoe Dam.
The youth pastor from Arana Hills Church of Christ has agreed to facilitate the day which will involve team building, problem solving and planning.
Western Hills Antioch contributed to the recent Brisbane archdiocesan synod consultations at Grovely, Mitchelton and Samford.
Donna McDade from the group said the young people developed a consultation team facilitated by a young member of the parish and came up with some great ideas and views for the 2003 Synod.
They also celebrated a final youth Mass with Fr Morgan Batt who is leaving Grovely Mitchelton parish on November 25.
Ms McDade described the evening as ‘absolutely brilliant’.
Students from Australian Catholic University joined the congregation to thank Fr Batt for his youth work in the parish.
‘He has been fantastic with the youth,’ said Donna.
‘Morgan has given us the freedom to be creative, think outside the box, and challenge the world – not to take it for granted but to go out and get it.
‘He has journeyed with us and been our companion.
‘He also loved sharing his stories and has brought his passion to our Church life and empowered us to be passionate ourselves – passionate about God, passionate about love and passionate about life.’
