Cathedral youth counting down

Youth and young adults (18-35 years) throughout Brisbane are brimming with excitement towards the World Youth Day 2016 Pilgrimage to Krakow, Poland.   The Young Adult Ministry of St Stephen’s Cathedral is already counting down the days until this momentous spiritual celebration!

Heralding the 30th WYD Anniversary, hosted by Pope Francis in the homeland of WYD founder Saint Pope John Paul the Great, WYD16 promises to be an unforgettable global celebration of our Catholic faith!

To help make our WYD dreams a reality, the Cathedral’s Young Adult Ministry has embarked upon an enthusiastic WYD16 fundraising campaign. A chronicle of fundraising BBQs, raffle tickets and novel inspiration finds a new touchstone in a special WYD16 Gala Fundraising Dinner.

Hosted at the Cathedral Precinct, 7pm Saturday 7th November 2015, this Gala Dinner welcomes kind supporters or potential pilgrims to share a sumptuous dinner, live music, inspiring presentations and a keynote address from the Very Reverend David Pascoe, Dean of the Cathedral of St Stephen – all towards helping our young adults to share the Good News through WYD16.

The Cathedral’s budding young adult community of university students, young professionals, international migrants, prodigal sons and curious visitors, is unified by a personal encounter with or yearning curiosity about Jesus Christ, our Risen Lord.

This community invites young adults to deepen, discover or renew an encounter with Christ through sharing prayer, formation, fellowship and Good Works. The Eucharist is our source and summit, pulsing through the Cathedral’s rhythmic, unwavering heartbeat of Sacraments.

WYD16 will unite vibrant, kindred veins of faith from all around the globe, emanating the abundant heart of Christ’s love and mercy!

Some of our family and friends have been blessed to experience previous World Youth Days. They describe the experience as ‘life-changing’. A communion of ‘life-changing’ experiences can become ‘world-changing’.

Please help young adults to change the world, to deepen and nurture encounters with Christ. Help us to share the WYD16 pilgrimage to Krakow, Poland, so that we might return with unbridled vigor to share the Good News.
