HUNDREDS of thousands of young people from around the world last month participated in a unique event that lifted the spirits of the Church in Australia.
The young people Fr Wally Dethlefs talks about in his Brisbane Catholic Education submission to the Federal Government on homelessness (Page 1), were not likely to have been among them.
Attending World Youth Day 2008 would have been out of the question – unless they benefited from the generosity of others able to come up with the funds to make sure they did not miss out.
Often that’s all it takes is for one person to know of another’s need and compassion fixes the rest.
Thank God for people like Fr Dethlefs who are there to let us know about the need among our youth.
Compassion is the next step.
