THE Pope’s interfaith peace gathering in Assisi, Italy on January 24 showed poignantly how leaders of the world’s religions can work together for a common cause.
At a time when religious differences are being blamed for much of the conflict around the world, it is gratifying to see leaders of the various faiths coming together to pray in their own way for peace.
Finding common ground between the faiths is a journey fraught with many obstacles but the Assisi gathering has been a starting point and hopefully it will lead to many more mutual encounters and discussions.
Pope John Paul has been a strong proponent of interfaith dialogue and this is proof that his efforts are bearing fruit.
