Unknown blessings await

by Staff writers

HOW many people like Patrick Barrett (page 1) will be touched by the blessings of World Youth Day and feel called back to live their faith?

We will never know, but hearing stories like Patrick’s can be uplifting.

Patrick indicated that having Bishop Geoffrey Jarrett and Fr Paul McDonald pray with him and his mother after the death of his brother helped prompt him to make a commitment to his faith.

It shows how the Holy Spirit is always at work.

And we can trust that will be case with World Youth Day, before, during and after, as well as through initiatives such as the ones instigated by Australia’s bishops (page 3) to reach out to people who may want to reconnect with the Church.

We just have to try not to get in the way.
