CATHOLIC Church agencies have played an increasingly important role in lobbying governments in recent years.
Their efforts have had an impact on a range of social justice issues, from indigenous land rights to refugees. The formation of a new lobby network within the Church is a much-needed extension of this.
In a society which is experiencing a widening inequality of resources between the “haves” and “have-nots”, the new Australian Political Ministry Network will hopefully serve as a united voice for the Church.
Public policy is a sphere the Church cannot afford to stay aloof from.
