As Archbishop John Bathersby says in his comments about the new Holy Spirit Seminary (page HS2), the institution could not have a better name.
In these times when people are anxious about the number of priests available to serve the Church, the chosen name puts the focus right where it should be.
Rather than being overcome by anxiety, we are always challenged to place our trust in the Holy Spirit.
The archbishop points us to the confidence that “the Holy Spirit is with us always”.
It is on that basis that he and his fellow Queensland bishops, along with the seminary authorities, have set out in great hope to establish a new seminary.
We can now support them by praying for the fulfilment of that hope, and praying that we, as a Church, remain open to the Holy Spirit.
