WHILE thousands of unwanted babies are terminated each week through abortion, a Romanian woman set a new record for being the oldest mother at age 66.
As in the case of an abortion, selfishness has outweighed consideration for a young life.
The Romanian mother wanted to fulfil her motherhood wish through IVF well after it was naturally possible, but she seems to have forgotten that she will most probably not be in a position to care for her offspring through to adulthood.
Children are not a whim or a pet. They are a serious responsibility for any parent.
Unlike a pet, they cannot be put down or abandoned when boredom sets in, just as they cannot be aborted if they are not wanted.
