US states start banning abortion following historic Supreme Court ruling

“PROUD Tradition, Spirited Future” is the simple theme giving focus for our celebrations this week for the sesquicentenary of the Church in Queensland and Catholic Education Week.

Thursday (July 30) in particular will be a special day in the history of the archdiocese as thousands of school children, teachers, parents and parishioners gather in Brisbane for celebrations – a schools event in the morning and a Mass of Thanksgiving at night.

It will be a chance to reflect with gratitude on all those who have gone before us, making sacrifices to hand on the faith; to celebrate all that is good about the Church of today; and pray that the Church of tomorrow will continue to be open to the Holy Spirit.

Such celebrations can be a sign and source of blessings.
