AS Catholics we should never underestimate the power of prayer.
On his first return visit to Poland in 1979, Pope John Paul II sought the Holy Spirit’s assistance to deliver freedom to his homeland.
Within a few years, Communism started to falter and soon the Poles were able to taste true freedom again. It was an answer to their prayers.
In a similar vein, Archbishop John Bathersby is calling Brisbane’s Catholics to prayer to seek the Holy Spirit’s help in bringing a spiritual renewal to south-east Queensland.
It is a worthy campaign and one which is sure to bear fruit if everyone plays their part in it. After all, who can genuinely say that they pray enough each day?
