THE people of Brisbane archdiocese will be sorry to lose Bishop Michael Putney when he takes up his appointment as the new Bishop of Townsville.
Bishop Putney has been a tremendous asset to the Brisbane Church. His deep faith, great theological knowledge, ecumenical bridge-building and gentlemanly manner have endeared him to the many who have had the privilege to meet him.
He has also been a talented and respected leader in the Australian Church and will continue this role from his new posting.
There is no doubt that north Queensland has been blessed and will benefit enormously from Bishop Putney’s appointment.
