AS the world teeters on the brink of another Middle East military showdown, it is worth considering the untold suffering that such action would cause to the ordinary people caught in the middle of this conflict.
Too often the lives of people outside the Western sphere of influence are regarded as expendable in our society.
Iraq is not threatening to attack the United States or any other Western country yet it is being targeted through the ‘war on terror’ fear campaigners and unconfirmed reports that it is building up its weapons of mass destruction.
Any action against Iraq should be sanctioned by the United Nations first.
This is a time to pray and act with caution, not to roll out a full-scale war machine.
