AUSTRALIANS have given generously to many appeals in the past 12 months as tragedies have rocked the world.
From tsunamis to earthquakes, the people of many Third World countries have been traumatised by disaster and have benefited from relief aid sent by Australians.
But the immediate shock of disaster can quickly fade in our minds as new worthy causes for assistance emerge elsewhere in the world. Where does this leave the people struggling to rebuild from the previous disaster?
On World Mission Sunday, it is worth thinking about the victims of past tragedies and those who simply struggle from day to day due to extreme poverty.
