ON Sunday, September 2, Australia will be celebrating Father’s Day.
Of course this is very commendable, especially for families who are blessed with a father to celebrate with.
Having grown up without either parent, my only father image was the father Jesus talked and taught us about – God or heavenly Father.
I thank the Sisters of Nazareth for teaching me about our heavenly Father since they saw me through my childhood years.
Now my point is this, as I think of the great feast days of the Church celebrating many occasions in the life of Our Lord, Our Lady and the Pentecost feast of the Holy Spirit, what particular day in the whole of the year of the Church calendar do we celebrate in honour of Our Father?
I have racked my brain to find the answer and looked through my religious calendar yet I’ve found no feast day specifically to honour our creator, God our loving Father.
Ah well, that means I’ll carry on each year celebrating Father’s Day in honour of the only Father I’ve ever known and continue to thank him for loving me so much.
