THE past week saw the funeral of another fine priest in Brisbane archdiocese.
There seems to be a death every few months. Each priest’s passing is marked with much sadness among the remaining clergy, but of even greater sadness is that there are so few men stepping up to fill their priestly shoes.
It means that the remaining clergy have to be stretched that much more to make up for the shortage.
Today marks the start of National Vocations Week. While every vocation, whether as a priest, religious, married or single person, is important, the critical shortage of clergy is a special intention in need of prayers.
This would be a good week to remember our clergy and the great work they do under extremely difficult circumstances.
