THE Federal Court’s ruling that single women in Victoria should be allowed to access IVF services leaves the status of fatherhood under threat.
Most children have an inherent desire to be brought up by both a mother and a father. By opening IVF services up to single women, there will be an increasing perception that it is okay for a child not to have a caring father.
Such a situation can only be destructive to the ideal family unit.
Fatherhood has been devalued enough in modern society. It now faces potential extinction.
