Respect For The Dead

ONE would hope that when we are dead and buried, our final resting place will be respected.

Unfortunately, for many of the thousands of people who were laid to rest under what is now Lang Park in Brisbane, there was no such respect.

It is upsetting to think that the graves of these early pioneers of Brisbane were disturbed once and could face further desecration by plans to build a new super stadium on the site.

It is important that we remember those who went before us and the contribution they made to our history.

At the very least, a memorial should be built to not just the three pioneering priests who are buried under Lang Park, but to all the other people who shared the same cemetery and are still in the ground on the site.
