THE huge number of people who turned out last weekend to walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge shows that Australians have overwhelmingly embraced the cause of indigenous reconciliation.
However, this show of unity is only the beginning. The long road to reconciliation still has many bridges to cross and needs to be paved with actions as well as words.
It has taken a long time, but the Declaration Towards Reconciliation is an important starting point.
The only way that reconciliation will occur is if the whole community Ð including Churches and government – work together for the common cause.
