WE need to start asking some serious questions as to why we are breeding such an “out of control” generation.
These individuals have no conscience, no respect and certainly no self-control as we have witnessed in the outbreaks of violence reported in recent weeks.
How can it be justified to maim, injure or kill anyone, let along the innocent victims caught up in these violent altercations?
Could the answer lie in the fact that as a society, we have become so driven by materialism, working such long hours to accumulate the trappings of wealth that our children are no longer given the time and guidance for the important things of life?
Unfortunately with more and more parents being forced to work to pay for all the “extras” then maybe we need to rethink our values in life – surely a loving home where children are shown respect and guidance and made to feel important, far outweighs the shallow rewards of financial and material gains.
Sadly today parents rarely bring up their own children as they are forced to place them in the care of others from a very early age to return to the workforce, which raises the question just whose values are being taught?
It is apparent with so many objecting to religious views being taught in our schools, many no longer follow the teaching of “Love one another” and instead believe that it is okay to “do as you like” regardless of who gets hurt.
No one seems to object to children using profane and abusive language or to them being taught all about sex and drugs from a very early age, but try mentioning the Good News of Jesus Christ and the complaints from the minority are heard very clearly.
I was brought up to believe that we are here to make a difference in our world, so maybe we could begin by being that difference in our family, our home and our workplace and towards those we meet along the way.
