THE decision by a pay TV channel to screen the controversial animated series Popetown in Australia is an insult to all Catholics.
The Comedy Channel’s justification that it is being shown because it is ‘unconventional, uncensored and irreverent’ lacks sensitivity to Australia’s largest Christian tradition.
In Britain, the series was cancelled by the BBC after a wave of protests.
This is the surest way of stopping it from being screened in Australia.
Catholics concerned about the program being aired should e-mail The Comedy Channel and make their views heard.
