Anyone who may have doubted the Pope’s stamina would surely have been amazed at his renewed vigour during his gruelling pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
Despite a few minor hiccups, the pontiff has possibly done more for the Middle East peace process in a week than international negotiators have been able to achieve in years.
Certain factions tried to politicise the Pope’s visit but the 79 year-old showed he was above the political manoeuvrings.
His call for peace among the various groups that lay claim to this region was heard far and wide, and his meetings with faith leaders will surely leave an indelible mark on them.
As the Pope has shown again, there is still much he has to contribute to both the Church and the world. May God continue to bless his spiritual endeavours.
