FEDERAL Health Minister Tony Abbott says it is good for Christians to be involved in politics, but that he doesn’t think they should use their Christianity to make political decisions.
This is a contradiction of terms. To be a Christian means to live your faith in every facet of your life. Politics is no exception if you happen to be a Member of Parliament.
Australia needs politicians who are willing to live their faith and not be swayed by party political influences which may contradict their beliefs.
The current abortion debate is just one issue where all Christian politicians need to stand up and demonstrate their opposition to the existing laws.
Contrary to the old adage, politics and religion do mix, though sometimes it requires a little courage.
