BRISBANE’S Catholic Justice and Peace Commission (CJPC) is leading the way in showing a Christian response to the death penalty by appealing for support against the execution of the Bali bombers who killed more than 200 people including 88 Australians.
The CJPC is committed to the belief that the death penalty is wrong no matter who is sentenced for whatever offence.
And it is a stand that in no way condones the offence.
The death penalty is wrong because of the human dignity of every person.
The suffering of Scott Rush and his parents, Lee and Christine, as he faces execution (Page 1) is totally inhumane.
Our society suffers while such inhumanity is tolerated – for any offence.
