The coming week will be one of the most important in the history and life of Brisbane archdiocese.
Around 700 Catholics from every sector of the Brisbane Church will gather for the Synod Assembly from May 1-4 to help renew and pave a future direction for the archdiocese.
It will be a highpoint in the two and a half year synod journey which Archbishop John Bathersby kicked off at the beginning of Advent in 2000 – the universal Church’s Year of Great Jubilee.
The archbishop has offered a faith framework of ‘Jesus, Communion and Mission’ as a guiding light for synod members to keep in mind when they assemble.
It’s an apt trinity of concepts which could help the Church, through God’s grace, to transform the world, starting in our own backyard of Brisbane.
